It is an e-mail client that allows you to know how many and which messages are present in a mailbox (POP3) without having to download them. It's possible to read message's header to know: sender's email address, when it has been sent, from where (smtp server, IP address of sender's PC), message object and eventually to remove the messagge from the server without waste of time.
Eventually, this software is able to read some lines or the entire message body, it will be visualized just in ASCII characters allowing to analyze e-mails with virus attached, without infecting own PC. POP's Rider allows to remove, with just a click, all of the mailbox's content in case you are a mail bombing's victim. How many times is happened to you were waiting for some urgent-job mail, but yours Microsoft Outlook was "blocked" trying to download a very heavy attachment? (most probably a "little" game sent by some friend). With POP's Rider, you can delete the "fat" message and to allow Outlook to download the other messages, otherwise you can directly read the urgent message without having to download the "fat" attachment. [In truth, Outlook allows you to apply a set of rules like that: "Delete message from server if it is bigger than ..kb " the problem is that a rule like this is "blind": you will never know if someone has sent you a "fat" message, when, from where etc...]. Well, if you are a webmail user you can do things like these yet, but you ought to know..., this kind of service has a lot of problems and malfunctions.
POP' s Rider is also useful if you cannot have access to your webmail ( proxy that blocks connection to your website's provider..), and/or if you are using a public pc without a mail-client ; in fact this program it doesn't have need of installation, it can be configured "on the fly", and it fits in a floppy-disk.
POP's Rider 1 was released by NiceToad Soft on Tuesday 22 July 2003.
POP's Rider will run on Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows 2000, Windows NT and Windows XP.
